How did Mao spread communist ideas in China?
Background: In the early 1900s, China tried to set up a democracy (see Monday's notes). Sun Yat Sen worked to set up a democracy. After Sun Yat Sen, Chaing Kai Shek became the next democratic leader. While Chaing Kai Shek was leader, Mao Zedong became popular.
People began to follow Mao Zedong. As a result, Chaing Kai Shek and his democratic leaders were sent to Taiwan. Taiwan is small island close to China. Eventually, all of China became communist and followed Mao and his ideas.

Why would communism become so popular in China?
Remember people rejected democracy that was beginning and started to follow Mao's communist ideas. WHY would they do this?
Why would communism become so popular in China?
ReplyDeleteCommunism would become popular in China whereas democracy was rejected because people wanted to end financial suffering, and that would happen more with communism rather than democracy where it's every person for themself.

Also to add to your statement, according to yesterday’s notes and comments this time period was of war which means that the people relied on the government to guide them as they had scarce resources, and as you stated democracy was a supporter of no one but yourself which had led to its downfall but the rise of communism as it supports the people.
DeleteI also agree with your comment because many of the Chinese citizens were poor and demanded to be equal to everybody else -Michael Mclean
DeleteI agree with Nakaiya because with Communism the poor would be taken care of and no one will have to worry about financial struggles.
Deletei agree because they wanted there financial problem to end because at that time money was a ig problem and with communism the poor people would not have to struggle and finances would not be such a headache

I agree with Abigail and I would like to add on, the leader of the communist focused people to join his communist groups. Also since there was a war the people in China would have to rely on the government to help them, which means people would join the communist groups.
DeleteI agree with you because, more people started to follow Mao, so more people wanted communism.
ReplyDelete-Carson Stuart
I agree with you Carson the majority of China followed Mao which means the less people that want democracy communism will overpower.
DeleteI agree with Abigail and I would like to add on since the leader of the communist forced people to join his communist groups. Also according to the notes there was a war around (1935) so people would have to rely on the government to help them, which can lead to people following the communist government. ~ Niaja Rodrigues
DeleteCommunism would become so popular in China because of the lack of governmental influence and popularity amongst the citizens, whereas communism or more specifically Mao Zedong had been gaining popularity amongst the people and as a result of this democracy and its leaders had been sent away to Taiwan.
ReplyDelete-Riana Griffith
I agree with your statement because Mao was able to influence most of China to accept his communist ideas.
Delete-Nakaiya Flowers
I agree with Nakaiya because democracy causes people to think more about themselves. Democracy will force people to work harder so that they could make more money for them to survive daily, where as communism, everyone will get an equal amount of everything.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't people want more than others? Why would rich people decide to support Mao? Doesn't this mean they would have less?
DeleteThere are more poor people than rich people, and majority wins the vote! Rich people might not want to support Mao but it doesn't matter b/c for every rich person there are thousands more poor people. Regardless, i think this whole communism thing is a sham. There is no such thing as "everybody being equal". I can bet you these people running the government and who are in higher authority do not necessarily follow the law AND They have more money than every other person, AND they way they get this money is probably not just. (idk if that makes sense) . What about the woman who has 2 kids and one is disabled? Mind you she works a low paying job and her husband is not around. Does she get the same amount of water and bread as the man living in a mansion at the top of the hill? Who doesn't have any kids or a wife ? Make it make sense. they may both get 2 loaves of bread and 2 jugs of water BUT the man doesn't have to share !!! The woman has to share with both kids and b/c she is a mother, they would probably get more bread and water than her (b/c of the way she shared it). This may be equality but Equity should be in play. Equality is not fair, meanwhile equity is!! I rest my case.
DeleteCommunism became popular in China because many citizens were poor. With communism they would have everything equal. No social classes, no profit, no private land, everything was equally owned
ReplyDelete-Michael Mclean
Doesn't this assume that people are not greedy? What would convince a greedy person to be a communist? A greedy person would want more than others; so why would a greedy person decide to follow Mao? Open to anyone...
DeleteI agree with Michael because if the people were poor they had to do work to increase their status or get to a higher social class. If Mao was leader that is not something they would have to worry about because everyone would be treated the same way. - Darren Prashad
DeleteTactics such as propaganda could convince anyone to become a communist rich or poor. If Mao convinced them this system would be good for the economy or in any way that could entice many people. -Darren Prashad
DeleteMao could have convinced a greedy person to become communist through various ways. One way is if he was a really good persuader and convinced people that if they became communists then they would prosper greatly as individuals as well as a country. Another way to get them to accepts his communist ideas is through force.

Communism in China became popular because with Maos ideology everyone who was a citizen would be taken cared of. This would mean everyone would get the same supplies and no one would be better than the other. The people liked this because they would fell equal to everyone despite how good or poor they did. -Darren Prashad
ReplyDeleteBut especially now, communism in China, is just the government controlling everybody. There is a difference between equality and equity. Everybody being "equal" is not always a good thing. Mind you there are STILL poor people in China. There are STILL rich people in China. People still suffer more than others and have more opportunities than others, so where does this so called equality come in ??
DeleteWith Communism, The Government does control everyone and people will still be poor/rich but the benefits of communism come on a larger scale. If there a major problem the government can force people to do things in order from preventing that major problem from being larger and larger inside of china. The Equality comes in to the point where everyone will have to do the same things, comply under the same rules/laws and wont get isolated with extra laws for just one person.
DeleteCan this happen in a democracy; where people have a choice about what they think? This is open anyone … not just Darren
ReplyDeleteIt would be very unlikely for this to happen in a democracy because everyone's opinion would be taken into account and people like to be superior and think of themselves not everyone else.
ReplyDelete-Nakaiya Flowers
Communism became so popular in China b/c people liked the idea of everybody being "equal".
ReplyDelete-Esther Omolola
Communism became popular in China because the goal of communism is to make everything "equal" among everyone. Therefore, communism became popular to the Chinese because no one would be more rich/poor than another. Hence, everyone would be the same and better off.

Communism in China became popular because in communist country, it's society has property publicly owned, and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs, along with other things that make this form of gov. equal for everyone, whilst in a democratic country, the whole population are governed based on collective majority votes. The people of China would slowly but surely start to stray over to communism because their ways of life best suite a communist ruled country; thus making communism popular in China. ~ Rollin

DeleteCommunism and China became popular because it gave people a sense of equality for everyone. While Democracy gives freedom to the people, Communism makes sure that everyone is covered and everyone has the same things. The People of China rather have Total Equality than the freedom that comes with democracy which begs the question what are the benefits of being totally equal?
ReplyDeletePeople won't really have much to complain about. Although, people will eventually want to be more powerful, or superior than others because of the desire for power. ~ R.S
DeleteThe benefits of being totally equal is everyone has a say of themselves and what they want to do. Having equality can cause less problems for people because there will be no unfair treatment against others which can lead to conflict.
DeleteIsn't unfair treatment confirmed through opinions though? I'm sure people want to be paid more than what they should

ReplyDeleteMost likely to move past the stage of financial and social inequality and to be given what is needed depending on your necessities/capabilities without having to worry about paying what you don't owe. The Chinese saw this revolution as something beneficial for everyone

Communism would become popular in china because it gave the people equality and a better turning point all over the society.
